The Kids receives critical funding boost from WA Government

The Kids Research Institute Australia is one of 20 West Australian research facilities to share in $25 million funding under the State Government’s Research Infrastructure Support (RIS) program, through the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.

The Kids Research Institute Australia is one of 20 West Australian research facilities to share in $25 million funding under the State Government’s Research Infrastructure Support (RIS) program, through the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.

Announced this week, the funding provides an important foundation to support the growth of the sector in WA and enhance the State’s reputation as a leader in health and medical research and innovation.

Institute Executive Director Professor Jonathan Carapetis thanked the State Government for the funding, which will help cover the costs of undertaking research that are not usually provided by research grants, and costs associated with operating research equipment, facilities and services.

“The RIS program is critical because it helps cover the true cost of research, including the infrastructure that supports, and allows, the research to take place,” Professor Carapetis said.

“This investment will allow researchers at The Kids to continue their work finding breakthrough treatments and diagnostics for some of the biggest health issues facing children and young people today.”
