Exciting changes are coming

From the forest to the desert, across rivers and oceans, we have pioneered groundbreaking research to improve the health and happiness of kids everywhere. A lot has changed over the decades, but our commitment to kids is stronger than ever.

What is changing?

We are changing our name and logo as we launch our strategic plan for the next decade to achieve our vision of happy, healthy kids. We will no longer have “Telethon” in our name but will continue our strong relationship.

As The Kids Research Institute Australia, we will continue our groundbreaking work to find solutions for the challenges facing children and families.

Why is this happening?

Telethon was created by and belongs to the community of Western Australia who, for over five decades, have generously donated more than $605 million to ensure a better life for our children now and in the future. In 2024, Telethon now supports more than 130 charity beneficiaries with grant funding.

Our name change to ‘The Kids Research Institute Australia’ reflects the fact that we operate as an independent and separate legal entity, with our own governance, structures, and distinct mission.

This change also reflects contemporary brand and donor recognition practices for charitable/NFP organisations that receive significant financial support from funding bodies such as Telethon.

Our change of name is by mutual agreement with the Channel 7 Telethon Trust (Telethon) that The Kids Research Institute Australia and Telethon Speech and Hearing both rebrand in 2024.

What comes next?

We are excited to reveal our new look and share our bold new strategy within the next month. Expect to see not just our new name, logo and branding but big research ideas as we work with community and partners to improve outcomes for kids everywhere.
