Michael Chaney awarded Fiona Stanley Medal
Wesfarmers Managing Director Michael Chaney has been honoured with the Fiona Stanley Medal for his commitment to improving child health and wellbeing.
Presenting him with the award, Director of The Kids for Child Health Research Professor Fiona Stanley said Mr Chaney was exceptional in his ability to see the broad vision.
"When we first approached Michael to Chair the Institute's first capital fundraising campaign, he immediately grasped the potential of what could be achieved here.
"He played a significant role in helping us to secure funding to build the Institute's state of the art research facility, and has been unwavering in his support ever since.
"His personal commitment extended even further when he accepted the position of inaugural chairman of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth.
"Michael has been very generous with his time and his skills which reflects his genuine dedication to improving outcomes for young people."
Mr Chaney said he felt very proud to be the recipient of the Fiona Stanley Medal.
"Fiona and her colleagues at the Institute are doing world-leading research in areas like childhood cancer and asthma and it has been a privilege to be associated with helping support this work," he said.
The Fiona Stanley Medal was established in 1999 to acknowledge those who have made an outstanding commitment to health and medical research. Previous winners include Dr Michael Wooldridge, Mr Peter Wills AM, Telethon, Mr Harvey Coates AO, Mr Bruce Langoulant, Mr Geoff Cattach and Mr Kevin Campbell AM.
