Kezia Bates is a paediatric registrar and research assistant with the Strep A Translation team, based remotely at Australian National University in Canberra. She currently works on the STARFISH program, which seeks to address the social and environmental determinants of health underpinning Strep A infections, Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in at risk communities.

Kezia completed her medical training in Canberra and rurally in Bega, New South Wales after training as a genetic counsellor. She is currently completing a Master of Public Health through the University of New South Wales. Kezia has a joint interest in paediatric medicine and public health medicine.

  • Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda (MChD, Doctor of Medicine and Surgery) – Australian National University
  • Graduate Diploma of Child Health – University of Western Sydney
  • Master of Public Health – University of New South Wales (due to complete August 2026)
