Cheryl Bridge was born and raised in Halls Creek, which is situated in the stunning north east Kimberley region of Western Australia.  She is a proud member of the Kija people through her Father and Grandmother. 

As the Head of the Kulunga Aboriginal Unit, Cheryl plays a senior role in the full integration of Aboriginal health research as a core business focus of The Kids Research Institute Australia. She leads her team in providing support, cultural training and building awareness and understanding of The Kids research involving Aboriginal communities across the state.

Prior to commencing with The Kids, Cheryl had a long-standing career in the public sector with experience in both Commonwealth and State positions.  Cheryl commenced in the Vocational Training sector 20 years ago gaining a wealth of experience across a varied range of positions from administrative through to directorial, working in both Aboriginal and mainstream program areas.  Cheryl worked for many years as an Academic Portfolio Director having line management responsibility for the North Metropolitan TAFE Creative Industries academic areas encompassing Fine Art, Design disciplines and Travel & Tourism.

Cheryl’s vision is to see our important research continue to translate into a positive impact for our Aboriginal children and families.
